Veezu helps children learn life-saving skills with latest community donation
1 August 2024
Veezu, the Midlands’ leading private hire operator, has donated £500 to FastAid Solihull, a charity that supports the efforts of West Midlands Ambulance Service.
FastAid Solihull is a group of volunteer Community First Responders (CFRs) who attend emergencies and provide support, and also travel around the local area teaching children and adults life-saving skills. They focus on teaching children how to do CPR and use an AED.
Veezu has stepped in to donate to the cause through their ‘Funded by Veezu’ programme, an initiative in which organisations, charities and sports teams can apply for funding and grants, set up to improve the communities in which Veezu operates.
Nick Morrey, Fundraising Lead at FastAid, said: "FastAid, a dedicated group of volunteers in Solihull and Birmingham, is committed to saving lives in our community. Our team of volunteer CFRs attends 999 emergencies and also educate the public in life-saving skills such as CPR and how to use an AED. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Veezu for their support. Thanks to their assistance, we’ve acquired custom-made pin badges and designed bespoke certificates to recognise individuals who learn the vital skill of CPR.
"The pin badges and certificates have recently been given out at summer fundays, where our responders have been promoting the importance of CPR with the younger generation. Feedback from the schools involved in these events are overwhelmingly positive - with children in particular wanting to showcase their certificates in school assembly and proudly displaying their badges on their uniform.
"Additionally, on the back of our certificates, there is an easy to follow prompt for CPR steps which is complete with QR code link to a video demonstrating CPR techniques. It’s essential to remember that CPR can be taught to anyone, even young children, though physically unable to perform CPR they can often demonstrate a remarkable understanding of the procedure.”
Letitia Young, Hyperlocal Marketing Manager for Veezu, said: “We are so pleased to be supporting FastAid Solihull. Seeing where our donation has gone in a very real and tangible way is lovely, especially as it is being used for such an important cause. Hopefully this is the beginning of an ongoing partnership, as we look to further support the local community of Solihull.”
