Veezu Introduces Additional Safety Measures to Protect Against COVID-19
8 December 2020
Veezu, the UK's fastest growing taxi and private hire business, has introduced new additional measures as the prevention of COVID-19 becomes a way of everyday life and residents across each of its regional hubs seek a safe and convenient alternative to public transport.
Private hire taxi firm V Cars - part of the Veezu Group – has donated 240 selection boxes to Christmas Care Swindon, a project which provides hot Christmas dinners to the homeless and vulnerable.
The group, which is run entirely by volunteers and a small committee, and is funded purely from cash and in-kind donations, has had to suspend its usual donation days, because of Covid. The project will open its doors to guests from 22nd December until 29th December, from 9-11am for a cooked breakfast and 2-4pm when a hot, home-cooked lunch will be served and the sweet treats provided by V Cars can be enjoyed by guests. V Cars promotes safety throughout all its operations and driver partners often hear first-hand from vulnerable people and therefore the business has stepped in to help out.
Jack Price, Regional Director for V Cars, said: “Christmas Care Swindon offers invaluable support within the local community and lockdown has been especially challenging for those with nowhere to call home. “The project has been impacted by the pandemic because of volunteers having to self-isolate or because of money being tighter than usual for regular donators. We really hope this gesture goes some small way to alleviate the pressures on the charity.” The project has operated every Christmas since 1988 and will run this year with a few changes including the venue, which will be The Haven, and limited guest numbers.
Diane Killick, Chair Person at the project said: “We are very grateful for V Cars’ generous gesture and their wonderful donations will be shared with the many who visit us.” For further details on what to donate or how to volunteer, see www.ChristmasCareSwindon.org.uk
