Amber Cars accelerates growth with acquisition of Premier Cars

25 March 2020

Leeds’ largest taxi and private hire vehicle operator, Amber Cars, has acquired Premier Cars Leeds to strengthen its offering across West Yorkshire.

Leeds’ largest taxi and private hire vehicle operator, Amber Cars, has acquired Premier Cars Leeds to strengthen its offering across West Yorkshire.

The acquisition of Premier Cars will see Amber Cars operate an additional 300 licensed vehicles across Leeds. Operating under the existing and well-known Amber Cars brand, residents and businesses in the area will benefit from increased capacity, as well as transparent fares.

Andrew Pennock, Amber Cars Managing Director, said: “The team has worked incredibly hard over the last few months on this latest acquisition and we are very pleased to be welcoming Premier Cars to the Amber Cars team. We pride ourselves on the service we provide to the people of Leeds and the surrounding areas and we’re excited at the prospect of creating even more amazing journeys for both driver-partners and passengers through our increased capacity. Due to a winning combination of our booking app, advanced digital infrastructure and professional driver-partners, passengers will benefit from a high quality and convenient service, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

The Amber Cars booking app, available for both Android and Apple devices, has been developed through more than £1million of investment and enables passengers to book a journey in just three taps, with the option of paying by either cash or card.

Additionally, if passengers prefer, they can still make a booking by calling the Amber Cars call centre or by using the existing number for Premier Cars. The deal to acquire Premier Cars further secures Amber Cars’ position as the biggest taxi and private hire operator in Leeds, with driver-partner numbers increasing to approximately 1250 across West Yorkshire.

Considering recent events, Amber Cars has now expanded its service to help local communities during social distancing, as well as vulnerable individuals who may be self-isolating. This includes the introduction of supermarket deliveries in the form of a ‘you click, we collect’ service, as well as the transportation of key workers, medical supplies and prescriptions. Amber Cars is owned by transportation technology innovators Veezu, based in Langstone, Newport. Veezu has four other major service hubs throughout the UK, each operating under established local brands – A2B Radio Cars in the West Midlands, Go Carz in Shropshire, V Cars in the South West and Dragon Taxis in South Wales.
